I often hear the same self-limiting thoughts from different voice students. Take a look at the most common and how we can break it.
Is it possible to
sing like my idol?
Victor not only draws on his great experience and expertise about singing and high performance but from the latest studies on vocal science as well. There is a lot more to science in this art than you might think.
Every sound, every muscle, and structure has been exhaustively studied with their various combinations. Even when a simple sound is performed, there are a series of muscles and pressures involved, different from what was believed in the past, that the muscles acted synergistically.
Today we know about the primary/secondary functions of each muscle, as well as their different arrangements. In other words, we are at a time when we have a much clearer vision about vocal phenomena, and enough knowledge to no longer “take into account” the individual talent of each singer.
That is, it is possible to study and develop vocally in the sense that each student wishes, just as their idol does because art is going hand in hand with science.
I was not born to sing.
I'm too old to start.
These are some of the biggest fallacies ever planted in people's minds. Unfortunately, in the not-too-distant past, it was believed that it was only possible to sing well if you were born with this much-desired gift.
But today, we know that good singing does not exactly depend on a gift.
Singing is an art that has already been unveiled, understood, and explained by science. In other words, through a study plan with strategic exercises, executed with the appropriate consistency, it is possible to reach incredible results with people of all ages and technical levels, from amateurs to professionals.
I sing bass.
I can't reach extreme highs or vice versa.
To reach high notes, or low notes, or to realize that specific vocal aesthetic, or even the dozens of Vocal Distortions that exist, it is necessary to know what to access in your body to get there and how to practice.
One of the first essential steps is to break the myth that has already been ingrained in you by saying that your vocal register doesn't allow it. Yes, it does! You can get there with the correct instruction.

What do my students have to say?
Why is Victor a
Distinguished Teacher?
Dedication and love for vocal technique and singing made Victor delve into this science and art.
Anyone who has studied with him knows how attentive he is to the smallest detail. The details are of an interpretative order, of intensities, perfect adjustment for the vocal region that is singing, vocal health and hygiene, nutrition, preparation and warm-up before performing, etc.
And as mentioned above, it is the perfect understanding of vocal physiology and science. And this scientific study was carried out through the Instituto Brasileiro de Canto Contemporâneo (The Brazilian Institute of Contemporary Singing), which studied, characterized, named all the possible vocal schemes, whether of a clean or distorted voice, by using precision equipment to observe the actions and different muscular arrangements of singers.
His scientific foundation, technical knowledge, and 20 years of experience give Victor a unique ability to identify, through a single vocal sound, what is happening with success or failure. Within one vocal emission, Victor knows how to correct mistakes. He knows if the muscle and air pressures are adequate to the performed vocal scheme, if the vocal region is compatible with the chosen stretch, etc.

“Victor is not only a wonderful person but also a great teacher and friend. He also has a different way of working, in addition to developing our voice he develops our psychological and mind control, which is essential for stages in times of nervousness.”

“Victor Wichmann is exactly what the word teacher suggests: Turning the apprentice into a professional. The method used is refined and meticulous, as it looks far beyond the sound. Singing involves not only the technical issue, but the psychological issue, both cognitive and emotional, and Victor works very well with all these aspects. He stresses Lightness and Tranquility because knowing how to control these qualities smoothly we can reach any intensity, both in the technical musical sense and in the emotional sense.”

"It is difficult to find words to describe my great and talented teacher of vocal technique. (He is) a natural talent with an immense teaching capacity that allows his students to understand what they need to do in exercises and on stage. It made me grow on a large scale in such a short time. That’s why he's the only person I recommend for classes"

"Since I was little I watched videos and wanted to take vocal technique classes with Victor, but I never could, I knew that if I learned how to use my voice with him I could do whatever I wanted, and today taking classes with him I saw that we can make the “impossible” possible as an artist and person. Victor is not only an example of a teacher but also an inspiration to be followed, as a vocalist and a human being."

“I remembered when I arrived at your studio wanting to sing “If It Makes You Happy” by Sheryl Crow and during the chorus I was literally purple trying to reach the notes. I had 3 months to go on stage for the first time to sing 10 songs and I had never sung in my life. So we started the classes and you taught me not only vocal techniques, but stage posture, facial and body expression, and mainly, you taught me to have confidence and believe that I could really sing! Today, thanks to the excellence of your work I believed, I evolved vocally and I am the vocalist of my band, Ladies First! Today, one of the things that give me the most pleasure in life is singing! You can be sure dear master, every time I go on stage, somehow you go up there with me. I take your teachings in my corner, the gratitude that you also believed in me in my soul, and the great friendship that we have in my heart for all my life! Thank you very much my master, friend, and guru, Victor Wichmann!”
